Digital Ad Sales Executive - TV Network Digital Ad Sales Group




The TV Network(s) are seeking an experienced online advertising Digital Account Executive (DAE) to join the advertising sales team in Chicago, IL.  The primary focus of this role is to identify prospects for national online ad sales, closing deals and generating revenue for this growing area of the TV Network beyond traditional Cable, Satellite and On-Air distribution.  


This Digital Account Executive will also work closely with the Vice President, Digital Ad Sales and other members of the sales team to strategize on building overall digital revenue for the network.  The Digital AE will be based in Chicago, IL and report to the VP, Digital Ad Sales. 




A starting $100,000 base with equal or greater commissions and bonus structures that reward success.

Duties and Responsibilities


The Digital Account Executive plays an important role within the Network(s) digital advertising sales team and is responsible for managing key relationships with agencies and clients who are national advertisers.  The national online advertising digital account executive must be a client-focused seller who has proven experience in national online/digital media advertising sales. 


This Chicago-based advertising sales executive will work closely with national sales personnel to create and present opportunities for cross-platform online and (at times) on-air advertising to agencies and clients.  S/he will also identify prospective advertisers to bring to the Network(s) who enjoy cross-platform advertising campaigns. 


The Digital AE will develop, close and manage business from new and existing national accounts in the Midwest.  This online advertising sales executive must be able to create, develop and execute sales strategies and proposals. 


Specifically, the Digital Account Executive will:


  • Nurture and grow the network’s digital sales efforts with targeted clients who are national advertisers.

  • Structure deals and develop strong business relationships. 

  • Enhance revenue through direct sales to national advertisers and advertising agencies. 

  • Create and/or identify convergent opportunities with advertisers that capitalize on the interactive properties and the TV Network's capacity to attract a desirable demographic based on their TV series, music, entertainment, tentpole programming  and information dominance. 

  • Sell across all digital, lifestyle, music and entertainment platforms. 

  • Create sales presentations with your ideation team for key, target categories and accounts.

  • Generate digital ad sales revenue that meets or exceeds budget

  • Effectively collaborate with multiple departments in order to achieve network objectives and optimize revenue through strategic and creative means.

  • Continually identify, define, and quantify both existing and new revenue opportunities that are cutting edge in the media and entertainment industry.

  • Prepare reports for management so they can be aware of new business and existing business development

  • Attend the weekly internal TV Network and Cross-Platform sales meeting.


Digital Advertising Sales Skills & Experience Required


The Digital Account Executive will be an experienced, driven and innovative national interactive sales professional.


This national advertising sales professional will be part of a collaborative sales team helping to grow overall digital revenues.  They must have national interactive advertising experience and existing relationships with the appropriate agency/media buying community. 


In addition, all candidates should possess the following:  



  • A minimum of 3-5+ years of digital advertising sales experience managing a list of national accounts.

  • Experience working with other media platforms synergistically (Network TV, Cable TV, Radio, Mobile and or Print) and Digital is required.

  • Proven capacity to enhance revenue through consultative selling skills.

  • Strong communication skills to present to major advertising agencies and clients.

  • Strong relationships with agencies and clients that allow the presentation of special events, integrated advertising opportunities and digital sales opportunities.

  • The ability to structure deals and develop strong client relationships as part of one the nation’s leading cable TV networks serving a loyal and devoted viewing audience.

  • Experience working as part of an advertising sales organization and growing your own business.

  • Strong analytical ability for strategic sales development, including interpretation of media research and analysis for effective use as a sales tool.

  • Superior communications skills; the ability to keep all parties informed and aware of key issues surrounding this role. 

  • Ability to get along and work productively with all colleague in sales, marketing, research, programming and creative brand solutions.  

  • A track record of successfully increasing digital ad sales revenues.

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and aggressive attitude towards exceeding goals.

  • A confident, tenacious, diplomatic, and collaborative style.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. 

  • Extremely goal oriented with the ability to be organized and prioritize.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
