Todd duBoef and Bob Arum had a vision and a business plan to enhance markets and revenue for Top Rank Boxing
Client Situation

The President of Top Rank Boxing, Todd duBoef, met with the President of Filcro Media Staffing, Tony Filson in New York to discuss the strategic business goals of the organization across multiple media platforms for B2B, B2C and C2C in domestic and international markets.

Monetization responsibilities for this executive vice president were to be league, franchise, athlete, media, advertising, event, sponsorship, licensing and athlete management related.

The CEO and President's objective was to identify an executive who could function with autonomy to monetize the organization in new businesses and in the businesses they were currently engaged in, within US, LATAM, EU, ASIA and MENA markets.

As the global leader in their space, the CEO and President of Top Rank felt that prevailing dominance had caused complacency. There was a need to identify an executive who could move the company forward from a revenue and branding perspective. Top Rank wanted to be proactive and eliminate competition from gaining market share.

Corporate sponsors, advertisers, fans, athletes and media partners needed to see a “named” change agent was taking the helm as EVP. A titular head of sports marketing and sales would not suffice. This EVP would have to as tenacious and driven as some of Top Rank's top fighters to accomplish these tasks globally.

The President of Top Rank granted Filcro Media Staffing autonomy to formulate a job description, compensation structures and flexibility on where the new executive's second home would be based on the travel demands of the role. To assure search completion at the desired cadence, the President remained intimately engaged until the search was brought to fruition. Todd duBoef was always available for every interaction required to make this search a success.

The media companies, brands, media platforms and executives with relationships with Filcro Media Staffing were all related to the firm’s business goals and partnerships, which would help attract the proper executive. Todd DuBoef knew that if Filcro Media Staffing called a sports executive to talk about an opportunity, the call would be well received.
The CEO and President of Top Rank were about to transform over twenty years of business practices and monetization channels for professional boxing. The president wanted to be disruptive to the firm’s competitors and the industry in the process.
With a clear commitment by Top Rank to maintain dominance in their space and control the key relationship(s) between sports, media, advertising agencies, global advertisers and sponsors, Top Rank engaged Filcro Media Staffing to recruit in an aggressive manner that would cause buzz in the industry and have people talking and spreading the word.
